For a little background; I am 88 and have had Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM) since 2000. It is progressively getting worse. I am now confined to power wheelchair in the day and a hospital bed at night. My care is provided by a loving wife of 65 years, children and grandchildren, in my home in Marysville, Ca. My typing skills are limited by IBM to either ‘Voice to Text’ and/or ‘Onscreen Keyboard and Index Finger’.

I have often thought of doing a online blog for fun but was hesitant to do so, not having a topic that inspired me. I read that a blog should be something you are interested in and/or have experience about. Twenty plus years living with Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM) I felt, qualified me to blog about IBM. This website is being developed as a blog site for individuals with IBM and have added my limited experience using IVERMECTIN and avoiding the ‘VAX’.

For the first 7 years of my problem with my muscles slowly weakening, I believed it was the result of Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy, LGMD. This blog is the story of how I lived my life during the this journey. Recalling the events and time-line is necessary to get the facts straight. My hope is for readers will possibly recognize symptoms of IBM.

My journey time line is fairly long and still going on. The telling may take some time. Fortunately my wife children and grandchildren have you been able to assist me. IBM has put me in a situation where assistance is desired and needed. ‘Thank You’ is hardly sufficient for the appreciation I have for their efforts. I should have started this prior to my dependence on an on-screen keyboard and index finger as the primary mode of input.

  1. Good to hear from you and that you’re still active and with us. I gave up scuba a year ago. Billy Umsted and I had been making an annual trip to the Caribbean. But I called it quits and spend more time with my family.

  2. Chas,
Tess and I now have a better understanding of what you and Jan and your loving family have been living through the last twenty-two years. Life dishes it out-
seems few escape. We pray for you and yours.
We now live at The Windham, a senior residence in
Fresno. We have lived here for about eight months and are still adjusting, but enjoying our lives. Russ
